The Paco-Vicuña produces some of the world’s finest fleece. The fiber is strong, incredibly soft, and warm - making it ideal for a variety of clothing and artistic needs. Paco-Vicuña are a special alpaca that exhibit the phenotypical traits of the vicuña, its Andean ancestor. Paco-Vicuna have the super-fine fiber like the wild vicuña but with somewhat longer and denser fleece like the alpaca. The Paco-Vicuna fibers that we sell come in two grades, grade 0 & grade 1, with 0 being the finer of the two. Grade 0 fibers are typically 14-15 microns in diameter and the grade 1 being 16-17 microns. These numbers indicate that our Paco-Vicuna yarn & fiber is as soft as the softest cashmere!
These skeins of Paco-Vicuna were not graded prior to being spun and we cannot tell if they are grade 0, 1, or 2 resulting in the lower price. We can tell you that these are still fabulous fibers and this lower price is an excellent buy!
NOTE: Due to the nature of the small batch and small mill processing used to spin this yarn, there can and will be slight variations in the yarn weight (i.e. fingering vs light fingering) and the actual weight, in ounces, of each skein will obviously vary accordingly with each skein, however, the length, in yards, of the skeins is always accurate.
Sorry, but our Paco-Vicuña yarns are not subject to most BBR discounts due to the nature of our distributorship.
